They have a beautiful granite stone and there is a dozen of Yosemite like climbing routes there, especially in Mt. Hiei, Mt.Menpoko.

Iori and The topo
There is a very famous topo book called "Miyazakino Iwaba".

This famous book was written by Mr. Misawa, a boss of the climbers community here, and owner of a very famous climber's house called "Iori Sishigawa", just "Iori " for short.  He charges only 1000 yen per night per person. It's just a nice cottage with Goemon bath, a classic style Japanese bath, and Irori, a fire place. You have to bring your own sleeping bag but mats are there. You can cook by yourself there.

One of the Climber's paradise
Mt. Okue was about to be pioneered by Yusuke Sato, a piolets d'Or winner world's topnotch climber,  in this March by rumor, but I also heard that he got seriously injured in Patagonia. Well, my point is that the rocks and view were great there even if you just do trekking.

I had climbed "Daichosei" Route and "Needle left ridge", lat year in April, and in September I climbed ”Hakua Slab”, receltly, "Ushinawareta Kusatuki".

All alpine and bolts are notoriously so scars and it is known as a scary crag in local climber community. Also the grading is untrustworthy so you better start from really the easiest.

Coincidentally, the same area is known for bouldering too. Hinokage boulder are pioneered also by world class topnotch climber Dai Koyamada... and there are tons!

It is too bad all topos are only in Japanese, but it is unrealistic to have it translated
into English...too much work, I guess.

So best is to go there with someone knows the area and be guided.

But it is a very beautiful place and worth visiting. You might be able to just trek.

The access is difficult without car but it is norm for any world's crags.

Any local climber says this is No1 destination for climbers. I agree that personally, and I am kind of a mountain lover too, not just as a climber, so I would be happy to just hike.

For the people only does hike the trail, this trail is considered rather difficult trail, the most difficult one for normal hiker who never trailed untamed nature trail...so I kind of imagine, you won't get too bored even if you just hike.
